CHANNEL SWIM CHALLENGE...

On 1st December 2010, our 'adventurous' or as we more commonly call him... 'crazy' trustee Paul O'Donnell, begins his latest attempt to raise funds for our wonderful cause... He will attempt to swim the distance of the English Channel (22 miles) over a period of 12 weeks, finishing on 23rd February 2011. In a 25metre pool, this equates to 1416 lengths, meaning 118 lengths per week!!! What makes this extra challenging for Paul is this important fact... right now, he can barely swim one 25metre length without gasping for air!!!! Let's wish him all the luck in the world, he is going to need it!!

*** The above Swim Challenge had been postponed indefinitely... but Paul will now complete this challenge as part of his training for his Kiliminjaro Climb. It will not be to raise funds in its own right but purely as a training programme!! ***

THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE...

climb At the summit of Snowdon!
A massive congratulations to Paul O'Donnell from all of us at the Trust! Paul finished the challenge despite being freezing cold, soaked through and physically and mentally exhausted from climbing... all to aid our wonderful charity! He was encouraged and inspired by a group of wonderful people who joined him while doing their 'bit' for various charities.

This has given Paul a 'taste' for adventurous challenges, watch this space to find out what else he plans to take on!

As a result of his efforts in this challenge, he has raised in excess of £1000 for our chosen charity for this project... The Samaritans. Over 35% of this was donated directly from RKO Trust... thank you for all your support!

Well done Paul! We know this is just the beginning for the charity and look forward to raising fund for years to come, so as to enable our dreams and visions to come true...

MOUNT KILIMINJARO CHALLENGE...

On 13th June 2012, Paul will undertake his most gruelling challenge to date! He will attempt to scale the largest free standing mountain in the world and in the process, raise tens of thousands of pounds for the trust but possibly more importantly for himself... conquer some of the 'demons' he faces on a daily basis as a result of his ongoing battle with depression. It is well known that this climb is extremely demanding physically but many also say it is the mental part which makes it so tough.... we take our hats off to you Paul... We believe in you!! GOOD LUCK!
